General Comments/Requests
We will keep the following contact information accessible so that we can use it for the appropriate type of support: We agree to working with Rescue Rovers (RR) to get the dog to adoption events on a regular basis (at least one a month). On a regular basis, we will notify RR of important details for adoption matching such as whether or not the dog is housetrained, crate trained, good with children, cats or other dogs and what type of food the dog needs to be on. We agree to keep a collar with an ID tag on the dog at all times. If we do not have an ID tag with our home contact information, we will ask for an ID tag with RR contact information. We agree to keep this dog restrained from getting loose at all times - by leash, crate and/or adequately fenced yard. We agree that if the dog is to be off leash, it will be only be for limited time, in a safe area, only when the dog is well bonded to the Foster and only when the dog will reliably demonstrating recall behavior (Coming back when called). We will never leave a dog unattended in the back of a truck or in a car on any day where the temperatures exceed 70 degrees F. We understand that to a dog this situation could prove fatal in just a few minutes, and this is not permissible under any circumstances. We will provide the foster dog with adequate food, water and shelter, preferably inside the home and never tethered unattended for any lengthy period of time. We understand that RR will completely inform us of the known health history and disposition of the dog we are fostering. Even so, there are many unknowns with a rescued animal and we will be alert to health and dispositional issues that may develop while the canine is in our care. Should anything develop, we will notify RR immediately for advice, training or other assistance. We will be courteous neighbors, and work with training techniques to ensure our foster dog won’t nuisance bark, aggressively behave, chase or harass other people or animals. We will protect the foster dog, people, property and other animals from harm. While in our foster care, if the foster dog is around other people or animals, we will supervise at all times, and assume all personal and financial responsibility for for the dog’s behavior. We will determine our own requirements for any unforeseen accidents/incidents, including additional personal liability insurance. We understand that RR uses specific vets who have billing accounts set up with RR. We will assist RR in getting the dog to the vet for any procedures deemed necessary (spay, neuter, etc.) at a time that is mutually agreeable, and We will keep any and all appointments made. We will not take it upon ourselves to take the dog to any vet without the expressed permission of RR. However, In the rare incident of emergency care, there may be an instance where a life or death urgency requires and emergency vet (i.e., the dog is hit by a car) and in these few cases, We will take the dog to the closest vet or after hours vet and notify RR as soon as the dog is in the hands of a licensed veterinarian, regardless of the hour. We will contact RR if we feel an appointment is necessary at a vet’s office, and make every effort to keep the dog on medications and after care as communicated by the vet. If we decide we wish to adopt the dog, we will notify RR as soon as possible so that the dog can be considered adopted. If we do not notify RR, the dog will be considered adoptable and RR will market the dog for adoption and accept/approve applications. As with any adopter, we will be required to complete the RR adoption application and pay the adoption fee within 24 hours of notification. Our application will be screened to ensure the long term happiness and health of the dog. I am over 18 years of age and agree to these terms.
