Meet Chalkie (aka Momma) Chalkie found herself in a high kill shelter, pregnant.  Rescue Rovers took her in and she had 11 beautiful puppies.   Chalkie was an incredible mother to all 11 puppies, and although she was under weight and malnourished, she successfully raised all 11 of them!  Now that her puppies are with their new adoptive families its time for Momma Chalkie to find a family of her own.  Chalkie is the sweetest most relaxed dog you will ever meet.  Her favorite activities include sleeping on her bed, and laying on the grass.  Chalkie had a pretty significant limp when she was pregnant and after weaning her babies she was diagnosed with bilateral hip dysplasia, and bilateral knee ligament tears.  We were all surprised because she was still walking and running!  This girl had learned to live with significant amounts of pain.  She was started on pain meds, and then had surgery to repair the worst of her knees.  She is on the mend and doing very well! If you didn't know about her knees you wouldn't even notice.  Chalkie just loves life and is a very happy girl however, she can be reserved, and cautious around anything new.  She is still learning to trust.  Chalkie loves to be pet, but doesn't beg for more when you are done.  Chalkie gets along well with other dogs and is even starting to play with the other dogs in her foster home.  She is very nervous around them at first, taking longer than most to warm up.  Chalkie is housetrained and looking for a family to call her own.
