Elroy is a very special Coonhound! He had a rough beginning in life and was not allowed to be a part of a family in the first 8 years of his life. He lived outside all of the time and was used to hunt. When his owner decided he was done with him, he left him tied to a pole in front of a smaller town Utah shelter.

He was rescued by Rescue Rovers and has been in a foster home ever since. When he first arrived at his foster mom’s home, he was so curious about everything! Because his foster mom could see that he wasn’t taken care of very well in his previous life, she’s let him pretty much let him do whatever he wants.

Sleep on the couch? YES!

Cuddle with the family whenever he wants? YES!

Eat yummy snacks? YES!

Get massages with Coconut Oil to help heal his sores? YES!

However, if he isn’t allowed somewhere in the home, he does understand his basic commands and will get down whenever asked. He’s very well behaved. Elroy is also 100% housetrained. He will need some more work on a leash because he just loves to follow his nose! You’ll hardly ever hear him bark, but he will “bay” like a Hound, but only when you first get home after being gone. He’s just so excited and he will let you know it.

He has been playing a ton with the other big dog in the home. He doesn’t seem to want to play with smaller dogs, but definitely loves dogs around his same size. Unfortunately, no cats for this boy! He does put his paw on your lap when he wants attention. He does it in the sweetest, most gentle way. It’s absolutely adorable!

Elroy has had a full panel of blood work, including a heartworm test and doesn’t have any health issues. He would do best in a more calm home. Lots of chaos seems to give him anxiety.

He really needs a great home, one that will spoil and love him for the rest of his life!

His adoption fee is $150.00. With that fee comes up to date vaccinations, a microchip and he has already been “fixed”.
