Hi, I’m Lily Mae!

I’m a 3-year-old female golden retriever and I'm the biggest sweetie! Some parts of my history are unknown, and while it's clear that I have been through a lot, I’m ready to find a forever family to show me what love and safety really feel like. I’m a bit more timid than most goldens, but once I feel safe, I come out of my shell quickly. I only weigh 38 pounds, so I have at least 10-15 pounds to go to reach a healthy weight. I also have a double coat, so I’ll need regular grooming to stay healthy and comfortable. Other than that, I’m pretty low maintenance!

I LOVE other friendly dogs! They help me feel confident, and I love learning from them and playing with them. I do well with older kids who understand my body language and know when I need my space. As for cats, I’m not sure. I know they’re really fun to chase! With the right structure I might be able to live with one.

In my last house, I spent 12+ hours in a kennel every day so I need a home where people are around more than that and can give me the attention I need and deserve. In my current foster home I enjoy running around my big fenced yard, going on walks, exploring, and playing with the other dogs. My dream home would look similar to this. Bonus points if I can curl up with you on the couch at the end of the day.

Did I mention I’m crate trained and potty trained? I sleep through the night in my crate and prefer to eat my meals in my crate as well so I don't feel the need to protect my food from other dogs. I’m also very quiet, but not by choice. Someone in my past inhumanely surgically cut my vocal cords, so my bark is very quiet, and sometimes no sound comes out at all. In some cases this kind of surgery doesn't last forever, so my voice might return, but there are no guarantees. I express myself in other ways like tail wags, nuzzles, and my eyes.

Despite everything I’ve been through, I’m sweet, trusting, and eager to please. I’m not looking for perfection, just someone who will never give up on me. If you think you might be my forever person, click the link below.

I’ll be waiting!

Love,

Lily Mae
