Meet Dutch: The Journey of a Transformed Companion Howdy partner! My name is Duchesne, but my friends call me Dutch. I’m a 1.5-year-old Border Collie mix, weighing in at 45 pounds. My story began on the Duchesne Ute Reservation, where I lived in a feral state for the first year of my life. Rescued from a hoarding situation, I was initially fearful and apprehensive. Establishing a connection with me took three months, but with patience and love, I began to trust my human caregivers. To help me grow, I participated in various training initiatives, including the Kudos to Canine Bright Beginnings course, the Confident Canine course, and a three-day workshop tailored for feral dogs. Today, I am a transformed dog, always wearing a smile and displaying affection towards my human caregivers. I am potty trained and prefer sleeping on my dog bed, but I am also crate trained and like to sleep in my crate during the day. I play well with other dogs and love walks, hikes, and adventures. I enjoy playing at the park and have been gentle with children. While I do have a herding instinct, I only use my nose to poke at you for attention, never nipping. I am such a sweet dog and very loving. I adore snuggles and pets. My journey from a fearful pup to a confident and loving companion is a testament to the power of patience, training, and love. If you’re looking for a smart, adventurous, and loving companion, look no further—Duchesne, or Dutch, is your guy!
