Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Baby : : Small Learn more about the Chihuahua.
Vampire is a female min pin (maybe) mix, just under 3 months. She is the ‘mini me’ of her mother, but will be much smaller going off of her paw size and current weight of just under 10 lbs. Her dark brindle coloring and super dark brown eyes are beautiful, and everyone who sees her falls in love with her immediately. She has an obvious wisdom about her and will look right at you as if to have a non-verbal conversation. Her mother is currently also available with Rescue Rovers for reference (see momma “Mummy). Vampira’s personality is brave, independent and outdoorsy. If a puppy can be a granola girl, Vampire is it. She is the most adventurous and smartest of the litter, always ignoring her foster mom’s pleas to come inside so that she can steal a few more minutes to sniff and explore the backyard. For this reason, she would be a great small-scale camping companion, but she should not be off leash until she (and you) have recall training down. Although she loves the outdoors, she shouldn’t be left in the yard alone or be an outside dog. She will chase her siblings in play, but is also content either napping or exploring on her own. She is very people-oriented, actively engaged and ready to learn new tricks. Puppy reality check follows: Anyone adopting a young puppy should expect a few accidents, a few chewed up items, and the need to invest time, human interaction, positive reinforcement and commitment to training in order to raise an amazing family member. As for Vampira, she is not yet 100 percent house trained due to her young age. She is currently using puppy pads combined with kennel training and scheduled potty breaks several times during the day. She loves to go outside with her siblings and will typically do her business right away. When winter is fully here in the coming weeks, she will need patience and care in helping her navigate potty training in the snow, especially since she’s so small. She has sharp puppy teeth and will soon be entering the teething phase, so she will need positive redirection to appropriate chew toys.
