Hi, my name is Cony (pronounced “Connie”) and I am a 1 year old, 45 pound herding mix.  

I am pretty shy in new environments and it takes me several days to “come out of my shell” with any new routine.  I will need a forever person who is very patient and understanding.

I would do well living in a home either with another dog or as an only dog.  I live with dog-savvy cats in my foster home, along with several other herding dogs who boss me around.  I’m a very sweet girl.  I have met several small children and I have been very gentle with them and not jumped on them.  If you have a very busy, noisy household, it’s probably not the one for me.

I am potty trained and kennel trained.  My kennel is my safe space and it will be very important for me to continue to have one in my forever home. I sleep in my kennel all night, and will wait for you to get me up in the morning.  I stay in my kennel when my people are out of the house during the day.  I also eat my meals in my kennel.  I can be trusted out of my kennel when my people are home.

If I want attention I will wiggle up to you and gently nudge you.   I ask for pets on my own terms and bond quickly with my person.  Once I’m comfortable, I stick to you like glue!  I really like going on hikes and exploring the world.  I’m pretty happy just sitting in the backyard with you, too.  I enjoy lying in the cool grass in the shade.

I would love to learn more obedience (sit, stay, down) when I am a bit more confident.  It would be a great way to bond with my person.
