Meet me, John Appleseed! I’m a handsome 2 year old coon hound mix who is a spirited, energetic pup that is very loyal to his people. I am a playful and very affectionate companion – especially when I’m around people that I know and trust! I’m crate trained, potty trained, and a perfect gentleman when it comes to his daily routine. I am a well-behaved dog at home, but I can get a bit anxious outside my familiar environment, especially around other dogs or unfamiliar people. You see, I have a bit of a past…but like everyone I am moving on to a bigger and better future. Now it takes me time to warm up to people and dogs but once I feel safe I am a friend for life. In fact, I’ve met a lot of people in my foster home and I’ve loved every one of them. Sometimes I forget that I’m a 60 pound hound and think I’m a lap dog. I would absolutely love another dog or two to play with, I am an amazing playmate. I like to chase or be chased, love a good squeak toy and will share all my toys with you! A couple of things that are especially important for me to thrive are the opportunity to expend my energy (running around the yard and wrestling are my favorites!), and keeping my brain engaged with challenging games. Barn hunt is my favorite, I get to use all of my senses, especially my nose, and I get an A+ every time. Foster parents say he will thrive with a family that has some patience, understanding and willing to work with his quirks (after all he is a hound dog). He is a super sweet, loving dog at heart, and yes as John mentioned, he is handsome! He’s got a ton of personality, he’s goofy, playful, and a such a great companion. John will add SO much love, snuggles and fun to your life. If you think he's a fit for your home, head on over to
