Hi! My name is Dusky, and I’m a 5 month old heeler/hound mix. I was born in my foster home back in June, and I got to spend the first 4 months of my life with my mama and siblings, being cared for by wonderful foster parents.
Several weeks ago, I started acting kind of funny. My fosters soon realized that I had a neurological condition, and I went to the doctor. It got worse before it got batter, as these things often do, but I’m doing great now and I’m ready to find my forever family!

I am a bit of a “special needs” guy – I will probably always have some neurological differences. For instance, my vision isn’t the best. They thought I might be blind, but I’ve proven that I can definitely see! Another thing is that stairs were pretty hard for me…like putting my feet in the right place didn’t make a ton of sense…but I have gotten so much better with practice! Foster mom has lots of stairs, and mostly I am carried up and down them, but I can do 3-4 stairs all by myself now and with practice, I will continue to get better!
I am making improvements and learning new things all the time – recently I tried to jump on the bed for the first time! Foster mom said “good job, buddy boy!” and I felt so proud!
Another thing I’m so proud of is that I’m potty trained! Lots of doggies with neuro issues have trouble with that, but not me! I am also good in my crate.
