Hello, world! I am Brother Bear, and I am ready to love you!
Are you looking for a lovable 5-year-old, 20-pound mix of American Eskimo dog, shih tzu, and terrier? Then I am the dog for you! Because I am a grown up dog, I already have a ton of skills. I am potty trained, crate trained, and I know how to walk on a leash. I know basic commands like sit and off, and I am working on learning new commands like wait and down. I am a quick learner if you give me treats to work for.
I love people–grown ups, kids, and anyone in between! Sometimes when I get excited I jump up on people, so I would do better in a house with bigger kids. However, if you have a baby, I love babies, too! People are the best to snuggle with and get pets from. I love to be with my humans and am an excellent companion. If you are retired or work from home, that would be amazing! I could be a good office dog, too, as long as there aren’t too many strangers who come in and out.
Toys and walks are the best! My foster mom takes me for walks in the morning and evening, and I would like going on short hikes, too. I like to sniff outside and know how to use a dog door, so if you have one of those, that would be awesome. I also am good in the car, though you may need to sneak me a snack from time to time to keep me super happy.
Other dogs are cool if we have a good introduction. I used to live with a dog, but he was another male, and that wasn’t the best. If you have a female dog, I would love a furry friend to snuggle with, but I am also OK on my own.
As adorable as I am, I do have some things I am working on. When I get really excited, I forget my manners and have a hard time sitting and remembering not to jump up. I might mark your furniture when I first move in, but if you keep me on a potty schedule and put me in a belly band, I will lose interest in doing that. The hardest thing for me is being away from my humans. Even when I am snug in my crate, I get lonely and bark sometimes, but my foster mom is helping me be more comfortable and brave when she’s not at home. I would love to work on these skills with you, and maybe take some training classes together. Spending time with you and getting treats? What could be better?
