Shepherd / Husky / Mixed (medium coat) : : Male (neutered) : : Adult : : Large
Hi there, my name is Prize and I am a sweet, wonderful, friendly husky mix. I am male, about 2 years old, and have a timid and cautious personality. Once I get to know you, I am an affectionate cuddle bug who loves to curl up next to you on the couch. I am quite chill and relaxed for a husky, with moderate to low energy and I settle nicely in the house and in my crate. In fact, I put myself to bed in my crate sometimes all by myself! I am scared of new things (it took me 3 days to not be afraid to go through doorways) and leashes can frighten me to the point where I cry, so I need someone who will be patient and kind to me as I learn how to be a member of your family and live in a house with you. I am doing great on my housebreaking and haven't had any accidents, but would need some guidance from you for a few weeks while I get used to your house, just like any rescue dog.
While I am a low energy guy, I still have some husky traits - I "talk" to you when I'm excited, and sing along with the violin in my foster home. I also get excited and try to "hold your hand" with my mouth - I'm not aggressive or mean, it's just my husky way of showing you how happy I am to see you! I am good with being brushed and know how to sit and possibly to shake? It's hit or miss!
Because of my shyness I would do best in a home with respectful children 6 or older, but I am wonderful with the children I have met and try to cuddle them right away with no fear! I am interested in the cat, but not aggressive, and could possibly be trained to co-exist with one. I am scared of larger male dogs, but do well with calm or indifferent dogs and I have even tried to play with the puppy a little bit. With that said, I am not one of those dogs that just loves to play all day, and therefore would be a great only dog! I really am kind of a couch potato, and am happiest when I'm with my people and being given all the love. I'm waiting to meet you, please apply today at www.rescuerovers.org!
