I’m Vaquita! That means “Little Cow” in Spanish and that is what I look like with my white body and brown spots! I’m listed as a 4-year-old pit mix, but I am in rescue so that’s just a guess. The vet thinks I could possibly be older because of my teeth. I’m only 35 lbs. and with the brown spots my foster mom thinks maybe I have heeler in me or something. Who knows, really? I’m a mix of something sweet.
I am a super chill girl that lays around the house and sleeps all day. If another dog wants to play, I’ll play but I don’t need an outlet. I’m very low energy. I love to cuddle and have your attention, but I never demand it. I am content to lay on the couch or a dog bed in your office while you do your chores or work. I also go in my crate very easily when you leave. When I am around another confident, well-adjusted dog, I don’t have any problems in my crate. If I am left completely alone, I will drool, but that’s all I do. I’m house trained with a schedule and just about the easiest girl you’ll meet.
If you have seen a picture of me, you probably wondered why I was winking at you. Well, I actually lost an eye quite a few years ago. Don’t ask details, the rescue doesn’t really know. But it probably wasn’t a good experience for me and probably involved another dog. I still have some physical and emotional scars from it. The physical scars you can see on my face. All the pink makes it look like I have a skin condition, but that is just scarring. Some of the scarring could be from when I lost my eye. Some of the scarring could be from a previous skin condition that is gone now. It’s hard to tell. I do have a bit of a sensitivity to some foods, but it’s easily controlled with diet. The food I do well on is found at Tractor Supply and called 4Health Natural Dog Food, so it’s not super expensive or anything. I am physically healthy now though and do not have any rashes.
The emotional scars only come out when I am meeting new dogs or going to new places. When I meet new dogs, I can get a bit growly and barky, but I don’t start a fight. My foster mom thinks I’m just in defensive mode from the start because of what happened to me. I get along with other dogs as soon as I know they won’t hurt me. When I go to new places, I get really scared and drool a lot. But give me 24-48 hours and I’m comfortable enough to wag my tail and engage with those around me. You will just need to be patient with me and give me a chance to settle in.
This all boils down to the fact that I’m a total sweetheart and deserve a home that will spoil me rotten. If you think we could be a match, apply to meet me at  https://bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplication !
