Hi there, I’m Caramel Macchiato, a 5 1/2 year old German Shepherd-Heeler mix (best guess).  I am potty trained, kennel trained, vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered.  Up until recently, I lived with the same family all of my life, until I found myself in a foster home (a great one!). 

I’d like to tell you a little about myself!  If I were to give you a description of my personality, I would tell you I am much like a 7 Layer Dip… complex and multi-layered, full of possibilities. I am adventurous, energetic, loving, comforting, a bit impulsive, and a little spicy at times.  The result when you combine all the layers is totally amazing & delicious. 

Because I am a working-herding dog breed mix, I will do best in a home with a structured routine including a balance of daily exercise and kennel time. Kennel time is very important to me, allowing my body and brain to rest, giving me a “time out” from feeling like I should be performing a job. 

I love going on hikes with other dogs and ride well in the car.  I enjoy meeting the neighbors on our daily leash walks.  Looking for squirrels, birds, and cats are a highlight of my walks.  We practice sit & wait a lot on my walks so that I don’t feel the need to chase them.

I get along well with other dogs, as long as we have a slow introduction in a neutral space. If my new home includes another dog, I will do great as long as the other dog is not too “bossy” in which case I might show my spiciness.  I do not do well with cats as roommates (too spicy), but I have lived with small children and done just fine (loving and comforting). 

I have a strong obedience foundation (just like the base layer of refried beans in our 7 Layer Dip) and will look to you to guide me through situations (chips & dip, they go together). I walk well on a leash. I know sit, stay, wait, lie down, leave it, kennel, come (look at that!  7 commands, just like our dip). I can be a bit impulsive, but as long as you communicate clearly which command I need to follow, I will do it.
