Hound / Mixed (short coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Adult : : Medium
HI! My name is Hazel Hound. I am a 4 year old female hound. I am a shy girl. I have just started coming out of my shell at my fosters house. The first day that my foster had me, I stayed on the dog bed in the living room and only left it when I was put outside. When I went outside, my foster mom had a hard time getting me to come back in (can you blame me, she was a stranger). But, she was VERY patient with me and now I seek her and the rest of my foster family out for loves and cuddles. In fact, I want to be with them all the time. All this in under one week!
I am house and crate trained. While I have been here I have learned to use a door that is just for me and the other dogs. Imagine that, our own door! But, I didn't have any accidents even before I figured out the door, so if you don't have one that is cool too.
I have two foster siblings that I love. OK, I love one and the other I tolerate. As far as my fosters have seen, I am good with all dogs, cats and people. Although, because of my timidness, older kids (10 and up) would be better.
I love walks, and am starting to do pretty good on a leash. Walks have really built up my confidence. Training classes would also help a lot. When it comes to other tricks, I am a pretty blank slate. It is obvious no one has ever tried to teach me anything in my past. But my foster mom says I am a really quick learner. She says that it helps that I am SUPER treat motivated. I'm not sure what that means, but I do know that I LOVE treats!
If I sound like I would be a good addition to your family, apply at rescuerovers.org to meet me. More about Hazel HoundGood with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults Other Pictures of Hazel Hound (click to see larger version):
