Meet Cotija, a sweet boy who came all the way from Mexico to find his forever family!
Coti is about 11 months old, and we believe he is a cockapoo. When he was rescued he was so matted that most of his fur was shaved for his comfort. Since being in his Utah foster home he’s had a professional grooming to clean him up and shape his little face. He’s absolutely adorable as he is, but will be even cuter when his curls grow back in!
But enough about looks – let’s talk about how SWEET he is!
Coti is mellow and calm most of the time and loves to be where his people are. He enjoys being pet and has the sweetest puppy-dog-eyes. He’s good with dogs and enjoys playing with his foster siblings. He hasn’t been around cats but would likely be just fine.
Coti is kennel trained and house trained, but has a tendency to mark when in a new environment. He's been wearing a belly band in his foster home. The marking has improved tremendously in the past 2 weeks and I think with consistency and training will disappear in time.
Coti is learning house manners for the first time and will need continued training to teach him proper behavior. He's gotten much better, but when he he first arrived he had no reservations about jumping onto a chair or standing up to see what might be on a table…especially if he smelled food! Coti came to us very underweight, with jutting hip bones and a painfully prominent spine and ribs. He’s putting weight on steadily now and only needs to gain about 4lbs to be a healthy weight.
Coti is looking for a family who will spend the time that a young dog needs, training him to be the amazing family pet he is meant to be! And someone who will love him fiercely and forever. If you’d like to meet Cotija apply today at

*Foster note - My groomer is the one who determined him a cockapoo (cocker spaniel/poodle mix.) Cockapoo's vary as far as how hypoallergenic they are, since Cocker's are not hypoallergenic but poodles are. Coti's fur feels hypoallergenic to me, but since he's been shaved pretty short I
don't know if he will shed or not. He'd probably be perfect for someone with a sensitivity, but maybe not for someone with a serious dog allergy.
