Meet Kalo!

This guy is truly amazing. Like, “what a catch!” kind of amazing. Like “holy crap he knows a lot of commands” amazing. Like, “how does this guy not have a home?” amazing.

Amaaaaaazing.

That’s a little vague, I know. Here are the details.

Kalo is 18 months old. He’s listed as a blue heeler mix, and it looks to me like he could have some Doberman or sight hound in him. He is whippet thin, but muscular. He has thick, sleek fur and beautiful coloring.

Kalo has had the benefit of living with one of our trainer fosters and has proven himself one of the smartest dogs she’s ever worked with. This kid picks training up incredibly quickly and lives to please! The list of tricks and commands he knows would fill the entire bio alone, so let’s just say he could be smarter than you are. He listens better than 99% of dogs and is incredibly loyal. He is, of course, 100% house trained and kennel trained, and he walks well on leash.

Kalo LOVES other dogs, both big and small, and is a fabulous playmate. Chase is his favorite game. He would greatly benefit from another playful dog in his home.

Kalo has a good amount of energy. He would be a great activity partner. He doesn’t need to run marathons or hike miles every day, but he definitely needs a physical outlet on a regular basis. Mental work is important, too. Though he is already very well trained and doesn’t need training for behavioral reasons, it’s really great for his brain and his forever people should enjoy working him. He would be incredible at agility, dock diving, GRC…really, anything. Did I mention he’s smart?

Kalo loves his people as much as his dog friends. He has done well with every member of his foster family (13, 17 and 2 adults.) He is a herding breed and has plenty of energy so we think kids who are at least 10 would be best for him.

Kalo is a bit sensitive in the fact that he is very responsive to his people. When he is with a confident, calm human, he reflects those qualities. But when he is exposed to anxiety or nervousness, he reflects that, as well.
