Hello potential adopters! My name is Clark Griswold and I'm the cutest little bear of a dog you've ever seen - amiright?! There's more to be than just cute, though!
Chows can be challenging, and honestly I am looking for a pretty special family. My foster mom has helped me come up with a list of criteria that will suit me best. I know I'm *unbelievably adorable* but there's a lot more to me that that! Here's what we're looking for -
1) Experienced Chow Owners Onl y: I'm 16 months old and I weigh around 40lbs. I'm looking for someone who has experience with my (stubborn) breed and knows how to be a good pack leader.
2) Another dog to play with or someone who can commit to taking him to structured daycamp once or twice a week. I need a family who will keep me socialized.
3) Someone who owns their home, due to breed restrictions when renting.
4) Time and resources! Chows require a lot of extra socialization with humans and dogs, need extra training AND require a lot of grooming.
5) Kids over 50lbs who understand and respect dogs.
Additional Notes -
Chow Chows are very independent and aloof, and they need an owner who appreciates those traits but won't let the dog take over.
Chows should be well socialized — introduced to new people, dogs, and situations beginning in early puppyhood — to ensure that they're safe and relaxed as adults.
Chow Chows may bond with just one person or to their immediate family. They're suspicious of strangers.
Chows need to be brushed two or three times a week to keep their coat in good condition.
Chows can live in condos, so long as they get daily exercise.
Because of his deep-set eyes, the Chow Chow has limited peripheral vision; it's best to approach him from the front.
If you fit this criteria and are interested in adopting, please apply to meet me today! My foster mama will call you and we'll set up a time to get together.
