Abbie is a year old red Doberman. She was surrendered to a Utah shelter with an old fracture. The fracture was bad and fused wrong, it had to be amputated. After her surgery she went to an experienced foster home to heal. Although she had been through so much, losing  her home, time in the shelter and losing her leg. She was the sweetest girl. She healed well and when she was feeling better she started to hang out with the other dogs in her foster home. She loves them. She has started to play with them. She loves walks but still gaining some strength so long ones can wear her out. She is a little nervous of slick floors and stairs but she is getting braver! A lot of people ask the after care of amputees. Well they adjust well. Sometimes it can take a bit to gain balance and strength but once they get it they are great. They run, jump, swim and play. It is important to keep their nails trimmed and never let them get over weight. When dogs are over weight it’s hard on them. With 3 legs it’s harder.
